About Sidney Hoffman
I majored in Public Health, but I like to say that Public Health found me. I started my journey in college majoring in Criminal Justice and then decided to try Nursing. While working to boost my GPA my advisor suggested minoring in Public Health, but once I started the classes I was hooked. After graduating from New Mexico State University in May of 2020, I decided to continue my education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where I earned my Masters in Public Health in May of 2022. During my final year of graduate school I started an internship with the City of Lubbock Vital Statistics Department. This job allowed me to learn so many valuable skills from customer service to data entry. I moved to Dallas, Texas in July of 2022 where I spent the next few months working on continuing education for my Certified Health Education Specialist Certification. Starting in the new year in 2022 I joined Americorps as a Site Coordinator for Reading Partners and have had the opportunity to learn about leadership and coordination of a program in the non-profit sector.Most recently I was hired to be a public health educator with the Texas Department of State Health Services in Region 3. I am on the Community Health Improvement team and I am the tobacco coordinator for Region 3.
