Alexander Siedschlag is Dean & Professor of Homeland Security and Security Studies, College of Arts & Sciences, Worldwide Campus, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He previously was Chair of Penn State World Campus Homeland Security Programs and a Professor of Homeland Security at Penn State Harrisburg -- School of Public Affairs, in a joint appointment with the Department of Public Health Sciences at the College of Medicine as Professor of Public Health Sciences and an affiliate appointment a the School of International Affairs as Professor of International Affairs. Alexander also served as Interim Director of the School of Public Affairs. He also has served as a guest lecturer at NATO School Oberammergau/Bavaria, Germany, as an expert evaluator for DHS (Science and Technology) and for the European Commission (Security Research in the FP7 and in Horizon 2020). Moreover, he was founding member of the jury in the Austrian National Security Research Program KIRAS and the Austrian Department of Defense’s Endowed Chair for European Security Policy at the University of Innsbruck. Born in West Berlin during the time of the American Sector, Alexander holds a master's degree and a doctoral degree in political science, sociology and psychology from the University of Munich and a venia legendi (“habilitation”) for political science from Humboldt University Berlin. He was previously Professor for Security Research and founding Director of the Institute for Security Research at Sigmund Freud University, Vienna, Austria, an Austrian national center of excellence.
