The IATI Governing Board takes a leadership role in overseeing the implementation of IATI’s work. The board puts recommendations on key budget and strategic issues to the Members’ Assembly for final approval.The Board is made up of seven members representing providers of development cooperation, partner countries and civil society, non-governmental and private sector organisations. The Board also includes one technical representative. The members of the Board appoint IATI’s Chair and Vice Chairs, who chair both the Governing Board and the Members’ Assembly.

We contribute to a better understanding for effective aid development through the lens of open data and data visualisation. Over the past decade we have been serving global organisations operating in the field of humanitarian assistance to provide data products and services and raise awareness of open data making use of machine learning and data visualisation.

The Global Fund aims to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics. As an international organization funded by the European Union, the US, China, Japan and several philanthropic organizations, The Global Fund mobilizes and invests more than $ 4 billion annually to support programs in more than 100 countries.In order to gain a better insight into the investments, results and the impact of The Global Fund in reducing epidemics, there was a need for a smart "Data Explorer".Together with the digital team of The Global Fund in Geneva, Zimmerman designed a first Proof of Concept of a Data visualization portal in 18 months in close collaboration with financial experts and the data innovation lab at The Global Fund.

UNESCO is the educational, scientific and cultural organization of the United Nations. Siem, together with the digital innovation team of UNESCO in Paris, went through various parts of the Design Thinking method. In the first phase, they jointly established the strategic framework and mapped out the technical requirements. Subsequently, he initiated a user survey together with UNESCO. Functional user stories were then compiled with the user feedback, which served as a guideline for the further development of the new responsive UNESCO IATI Data Transparency portal.

ODI is an independent, global think tank based in London. Their vision is a sustainable and peaceful world in which everyone thrives. They use the power of evidence and ideas through research and partnership to face challenges, develop solutions and create change.Siem worked with a scrum team from ODI on a completely new open IATI Transparency Portal. Siem translated the business and technical requirements into user stories, translated the user stories into wireframes and eventually translated them into the final adaptive visual designs within the ODI corporate brand guideline, after which he did a handover to the technical team for implementation.A full integration of the IATI data published by ODI was part of this mission.

IATI is a global initiative to improve the transparency of development and humanitarian resources and their results for addressing poverty and crises.IATI brings together governments, multilateral institutions, private sector and civil society organisations and others to increase the transparency of resources flowing into developing countries.

The IATI Humanitarian Data Portal has been developed by Development Initiatives as part of its programme to support the Grand Bargain transparency workstream. The portal provides information on the Grand Bargain transparency commitments, how they are measured , and monitors progress at an aggregate level for signatories in meeting their commitment to publish timely, high quality, harmonised and transparent open data on global humanitarian action.Zimmerman was requested to deliver the design and implementation for the Humanitarian Portal working together with Development Initiatives.

Aidsfonds is available for everyone in the Netherlands and abroad who is dealing with HIV / AIDS. Aidsfonds finances scientific research, stands up for the rights of people with HIV and develops and finances projects for prevention and treatment for vulnerable groups.Together with a project team from the Aidsfonds, Siem designed the Zoom data platform where different datasets can be visualized with the aim of gaining better insight into the variety of health indicators, enabling Aidsfonds to gain more understanding of their active programmes, the status of projects in the different countries and the results achieved within programs and projects. Zoom enables Aidsfonds and partners worldwide to gain up-to-date insight into the (sub) locations and (sub) groups where support is most needed, to make informed choices about where and how they should work, and to better measure and demonstrate the impact of their contributions.

With 173 Member States and offices in more than 100 countries, IOM is committed to promoting humane and orderly migration. It does this by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM is committed to orderly and humane migration management, to promoting international cooperation on migration issues, to seeking practical solutions to migration problems and to providing humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced persons.Zimmerman’s assignment was to design a data workflow for IATI data and to deliver an IATI data Portal that presents IOM financial and project data in an understandable and easy to use manner for internal stakeholders. His job was to map all data elements, select the right type of digital data visualizations, define a responsive grid and make each component responsive in Sketch. Based on its design, Zimmerman implemented the data portal. Transformation from the internal information systems to a valid IATI Data file that is used on the Portal was part of the delivery.

In 40 years, Almere has grown into the 8th city of the Netherlands with more than 200,000 inhabitants. Together with the registry of Almere and Leiden University, SIem worked as a senior UX advisor on the Open Council Information web platform. The primary goal was to make decision making more transparent for councilors and residents of Almere.Siem's challenge was to design a user-friendly, service-oriented open data portal in which the core values of Almere’s council members could be produced and accessed.His solution consisted of jointly developing a digital strategy to subsequently implement the open data publication platform with room for feedback from user research from the council members and residents, in a responsive website with clear intuitive navigation.

The national government is committed to an excellent business climate. Ministries set out policies for this. The task of implementing this policy lies with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).The user tests consisted of a think aloud procedure and an open question interview that were conducted on location. Based on the results, he gave advice on sharpening the proposition and designed the online environment and digital channels that the RVO could deploy in the context of open data and transparency.

UN-Habitat is located in more than 90 countries and promotes the development of socially and environmentally sustainable cities, towns and communities. UN-Habitat strives for sufficient shelter with a better standard of living for everyone.Siem challenge was to transform internal project information to the IATI data standard, map all available data from UN-Habitat on urban prosperity in a newly designed IATI data Portal.Siem's role was to set up the technical information architecture through different types of flowcharts, to develop functional user stories, to set up wireframes and ultimately to hold various rapid prototype iterations with the project team. This has resulted in a visual design that has been used to further develop an initial MVP.As part of this mission, IATI was fully integrated into the MVP as an IATI Data Portal.

IATI Studio was an interactive Data Toolkit that made it possible to visualise, analyse and publish aid development data published to the IATI Standard. IATI Studio extracted all IATI datasets covering $150 billion of aid published in the IATI format, and provided access to easy online tools to interact with all of that aid data. It promoted accountability and transparency on a global and local level and enables in-depth analysis of where the money goes and who spent the money on what.

Together with local partners, they offer people the means and knowledge to stand on their own two feet.Siem has designed the information architecture, the UX and visual design of the new dashboard in various ways and tested this together with end users and delivered it to the technical team (the front-end developers).
