During my internship at Encompass, I worked at Santa Cruz Residential Recovery, a residential substance use clinic for high-needs members of the community with MediCal insurance. As an onsite program operating during the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, I learned how to manage counseling services with case management and pandemic safety protocols. I often provided walk-and-talk therapy for my clients due to limited therapy rooms on site. Through extensive treatment plans, MediCal-required assessments, and billing requirements, I thoroughly learned how to navigate the Avatar behavioral health program.Due to the worsening of the pandemic, I transitioned to working remotely at Families Together, another program of Encompass Community Services that focuses on working with families who have CPS referrals. After receiving my telehealth certification, I have been working with adults, adolescents, and families via Zoom, and I provide counseling, case management, and psychoeducation as needed.

The Daly City Youth Health Center provides counseling services and medical care to youths age 12-25 with MediCal insurance. As an intern, I worked at the center and at Oceana High School in Pacifica, CA with clients ranging in age from 14-25. I learned how to use the Avatar behavioral health system, document client sessions, and provide evidence-based practices while at this site. I also learned how to use the telecommunication app Yellowschedule to text clients and send session reminders.
