Dr. Sierra Harding (See-AIR-uh HAR-ding; she/her) is an archaeologist with eight years’ experience in archaeological science research and cultural resources management. She recently joined Dudek's Pacific Northwest Cultural Resources Division and is based out of their Seattle office. Sierra specializes in cultural resources compliance for projects involving environmental restoration and the analysis of faunal remains collected during data recovery. Sierra has subject matter expertise in marine and environmental zooarchaeology, which adds unique value to projects involving natural resources conservation, landscape rehabilitation, and ecological restoration initiatives. Sierra meets the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for prehistoric archaeology and has been employed in the public and private sectors in Washington State. She has received training in Washington State Government-to-Government relations and fosters successful collaborations among diverse stakeholders, including Tribal, federal, and state institutions, environmental and cultural resources consultants, and academic researchers at regional universities. Sierra has experience managing cultural resources compliance for projects subject to Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act, as well as Governor’s Executive Order 21-02. Sierra has produced and published original research focusing on themes relating to human-animal-environment interactions in the past and applies that knowledge to solving contemporary cultural and natural resources management problems. Sierra’s previous international research experience includes archaeological missions conducted in a variety of terrestrial and submerged sites in the eastern Mediterranean region. Her doctoral research investigated the maritime mobility of animals as a proxy for human connectivity from the Iron Age to late antiquity. She also has experience in the scientific survey, documentation, and excavation of underwater cultural heritage sites.

Created and shared customized layer packages to disseminate pertinent geographic data to stakeholders.● Tribal outreach experience included regular communication with Tribal Historic Preservation staff at Colville Confederated Tribes, Yakama Nation, and the Wanapum Band, invitations to tribal cultural resource staff to monitor field work, and attendance at a Grant County PUD planning meeting with regional Tribal representatives. ● Archaeological co-principal investigator for the Columbia Basin Wildlife Area Sediment Core Project, along with Prof. Megan Walsh (CWU).
