Viaplan er ráðgjafafyrirtæki sem sérhæfir sig í ráðgjöf, rannsóknum og gagnaöflun á sviði samgöngumála. Viaplan býður upp á heildarlausnir í samgöngu- og umferðarskipulagi, hvort sem um er að ræða gangandi umferð, hjólandi umferð, almenningssamgöngur eða bílaumferð. Ég nýti sálfræðilegar rannsóknaraðferðir og legg áherslu á greiningu sálfélagslegra þátta í samgöngum og hönnun mannvænna lausna í skipulagi.

My PhD project examined the importance of socio-economic, demographic and cultural influences on individual transport demand. Focus was laid on young road users as they are of great importance for the individual travel demand of the future in regard to the consequences of global warming. The theoretical foundation came from developmental, social and environmental psychology and psychological research methods. This project was comprised of three complementary studies. First, an analysis of existing national travel survey data in a longitudinal setting was performed, and changes in travel behaviour over the last 15 years were explored. A special emphasis was laid on gender differences. Furthermore, an extensive custom-made survey was carried out to identify the factors influencing the expected future travel behaviour of the young persons and exploring the impact of environmental concern on these. Lastly, a number of individual in-depth interviews were carried out exploring habits, attitudes, reasons and barriers influencing future travel intentions, based on the results from the previous survey. This was an article based PhD project with peer-reviewed publications.

I became one of few individuals familiar to the workflow of one step in the process of mapping mutations in the DNA. However this technology has now been replaced with newer more efficient ones.
