Designed and built roof trusses primarily for large custom homes in South Florida. These trusses support the roofs and gives the roofs their fancy, distinctive shapes. Many top architects designed houses could not be built per their drawings. They needed our help implementing structural design changes needed to make the fancy architecture work!

Product development of portable typewriters. I was in charge of taking Smith-Corona into the electronics age with full project authority over design, engineering, manufacturing and marketing of this new product. I compelled Manufacturing to become involved in the design process. I had a radically redesigned advanced version (2nd.generation) ready two years later. This version separated the printing mechanism from the keyboard such that the printing mechanism could be used with PC's. Also as head of the SCM Corporate Engineering Council I oversaw development projects at Proctor-Silex, Glidden Paints and Durkee Foods. - The SCM Board decided to "mothball" my second generation design. I explained that in high technology like this you cannot "mothball" a product and bring it out years later. We got into a big argument, If they had had a better perspective of high tech, Smith-Corona could have "owned" the business of inexpensive printers for the PC's. But, they couldn't see the potential. - I stood my ground, tried to explain, and they then responded by firing me. - Sequel to this: several years later I saw a Smith-Corona typewriter in a store, I took off the jackets (covers) and found my design inside. They had taken it out of "mothballs" but by then it was out of date.

Product development - in charge of 300 person product development department. We developed a full range of IBM Compatible computer peripherals - Tape Drives, Printers, Disk Drives (large and small) and card processing machines. Developed a 100 Meg. disk drive which was cutting edge at the time. It was the size of two refrigerators, one for the disks and the other for the electronics. A thumb drive today can hold 600 times as much data or 60 000 Meg. (60 gigabytes)

Project Manager, Manager of Advanced Programs, Chief Scientist for the Space and Electronic Systems Division of Fairchild Industries, Top Scientist on the successful ATS-6 advanced experimental communications satellite designed, built and flown for NASA. In charge of of the early phases of the development of this satellite, architect of the fundamental design. Also did classified work for the US Air Force and some for the CIA. Secretary and member of the Corporate Engineering Council of Fairchild Industries reporting directly to the CEO or Fairchild Industries which among other divisions/subsidiaries also included Republic Aviation on Long Island, NY - and more.

Manager for Advanced Control Systems Department, Project Engineer on several advanced Space Mission Studies and the conceptual design of space vehicles to fly these missions. Close Approach Solar Probe. Arc-jet or ion engine propelled inter stellar vehicle. Nuclear powered space vehicle SNAP-8. - Also Classified programs. Published with co-authors two articles in the Journal of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Holloman Air Force Missile Development Center, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Summers, 1976 - 1977 - 1961 - Consultant to the US Air Force. Analyzed the supersonic aerodynamic design aspects of the Rocket Sled used to test human endurance to extremely high rates of acceleration. Also designed the proposed huge heliocentric mirror to be used for high temperature research using the sun's energy + other projects.

Developed tape (data storage and retrieval) drives for large, at that time advanced computer systems.
