Jan 2019 - Present

Business Developer

Current

Paris, Ile-De-France, Fr

Leading the Development and Pre-Construction activity for new ground-mount solar projects in the UK in a subsidy free marketplace. Focusing on Voltalia's legacy projects and anticipating the new subsidy-free market environment in the UK renewables sector. Responsible for nearly 200MW of new schemes: >South Farm Solar>Higher Stockbridge Solar>Clifton Farm Solar>Penderi Solar>Stud Farm Solar

Feb 2018 - Present

Business Developer

Bristol, Gb

Radical planning policy changes, the early closure of the Renewable Obligation to new mainstream renewables and an uncertain investment market have prompted many organisations to review their business as usual status and think differently about how they operate and engage within the energy sector. RPM has enjoyed continuing development of its resources and capabilities and has acquired the necessary knowledge and expertise to govern assets, provide project management overview and quickly react to planning/environmental challenges. My role was to lead RPM's growth in delivering further services to external clients across the spectrum of technologies and particularly in: > Asset Management > Project Construction Management> Procurement and Commercial> Project Development

Sep 2016 - Dec 2017

Project Manager Biopower

Bristol, Gb

Construction of new BioPower Stations to join RPM's fleet of four operational sites was a priority for RPM in 2015. I led a team of internal and external specialists to refine and optimise designs for the next generation of BioPower Stations. RPM uses a certified sustainable fuel, accredited by Ofgem, which it produces using a patented process. Current sites operate in the Short Term Operating Reserve market and also receive ROCs. Due to constrained timescales ahead of agreeing finance for the schemes RPM realigned deployment plans to focus on winning a Capacity Market contract through the 2016 auction. Much of my work has been in ensuring readiness for the auctions for 2017 deployment and refining the design of plant, equipment and layout to ensure cost are fully competitive.

Sep 2015 - Oct 2016

Project Manager

Bristol, Gb

Project Manager for the Construction of the Mendennick Solar Park we my next substantive role within REG having undertaken the pre-construction work myself. I transferred into the construction team full time under Stephen Booth based out of our Truro office. My role was to project manage all overall build programme to achieve operational output ahead of the October '15 clock change - which effectively would have prevented the DNO from energising the scheme. Juwi acted as EPC contractor on site responsible for the all aspect of on-site works. A number of difficulties needed to be overcome during the build phase, in particular bringing European contractors up to the required Health and Safety standards with a particular focus on adherence to protective equipment and the need to submit and to follow method statements and risk assessment mitigation. The project energised ahead of schedule and has been generating electricity since October 2015. Technical issues that arose during the construction are being monitored and the required corrective action being taken by Juwi in accordance with the contract. It was vitally important to keep the local community on side through the construction phase. I kept our Public Relations team informed on progress and discussed ways of ensuring that any traffic disturbances were kept to a minimum.

Apr 2015 - Nov 2015

Solar Development Manager

Bristol, Gb

Development of Solar Park opportunities throughout the UK involving initial site selection, negotiation with landowners, EIA, technical engineering studies and planning process. Management of pre-construction activities, grid and financing leading to shovel-ready project handover to construction team. I've needed to establish a team of capable consultants and in house specialists in order to deliver a portfolio of 60MW of consented schemes in less than a year. LDA Design, Golder Associates and Pegasus Group have been instrumental in REG's expansion of their solar capabilities. To date I've been fortunate to enough to lead on 4 consented REG solar projects, those being: > Mendennick Solar - 2.8MW > Netley Landfill Solar - 12MW (only one of three PV projects awarded CfD in 2015) > Ockendon Landfill Solar - 37MW (+ hoping to increase capacity to around 50MW)> Ling Hall Landfill Solar - 12MWAs with the projects lifecycle - my role will moved more into pre-construction phase at this point securing the finance to build the schemes and delivering all necessary pre-start material needed to break ground on the build. In addition to solar interests I took a role in the construction of the Rodbaston Wind project in Staffordshire which will see REG's first deployment of the G97 turbines - an exciting step into larger diameter rotors for me and building on previous Implementation experience with RWE.
