We were celebrating my 6th birthday when mom came running into my room. I had some close friends over and we played with my new gift - a brand new remote-controlled truck. Oh my."Kids, quickly! Come to the living room and sit down on the couch." All 5 of us scrambled on the living room couch. She puts on the TV. And we see Soviet tanks. A long line of them driving across the Estonian border back towards Russia.I looked at my mom and she just stared at the TV, tears running down her cheeks. I thought she can be emotional at times but this felt different. I didn't understand why yet...A few years later when I was 8, we started selling stuffed animals in our town’s marketplace with my older brother. The goal was to earn money for the first Lego set. We pulled off a good season, most likely because of our cuteness. And I got fascinated with entrepreneurship. I can earn my own money?!? It felt liberating. The ’90s introduced Estonia to an early supermarket culture (with loads of margarine!). It was an exciting time for many who always dreamt of having their own business. I think it was this difficult and yet hopeful period, that helped to build the cornerstone toward future aspirations.After children's toys, I dove into popcorn, strawberries, cleaning services, e-commerce, a world-saving NGO, a training company, an ad agency, fintech and marketing.I am currently, exploring the world of marketing effectiveness, productivity and mental health.I grew up with a mouse in one hand and a cellphone in the other, but I believe that we all have a lot to learn from intimate human relationships that last a lifetime.
