My client, a leading property services company in the region, wanted me to develop software for trades-work (replacing Tradify) that would manage jobs/service requests, quotations, invoices, purchase of material, customers, suppliers and staff; it can assign workers to jobs based on availability; examine the cost, generate reports, and more. It’s a fully secured RESTfull web service developed using Spring with full integration to MYOB. I was promoted to manage and support IT operations for multiple companies owned by the group and to develop property management and enterprise software for its real-estate division that managed the Goldcrest brands of properties in Dubai and Ajman. The software was developed using the Java/JEE technology from the ground-up and was instrumental in completely revamping the handling of information across the enterprise and improving business processes; some of the features included: unit availability management, sales management, customer masters, sales & purchase agreement generation, ledger accounting, business reports, financial reports, receipts generation, customer communications, and bank reconciliation; was wholly involved in all the phases of the development life-cycle: requirements analysis, data modeling, software design, coding, testing, implementation, data migration, and application management. I was also responsible to understand the reporting requirements of the business and to support management with data analysis.

The main purpose of this role was to manage the IT infrastructure of the company and provide administrative services for database, application, and domain servers; to serve as first and final point of contact for applications and systems related issues, data enquiries, business reports, and resolution of technical problems. Was also responsible to understand existing systems and liaise between vendors and users for successful realization of company’s IT objective.The effective fulfilment of the duties involved required an array of technical skills and a strong understanding of IT systems including: programming skills, database skills, advanced knowledge of data modeling and SQL, advanced skills in MS Excel, web-development, and documentation skills. The role also required the ability to communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
