I've always had a love for design, math, and learning how things work. Out of high school I worked in the Horticulture department at the Milwaukee County Zoo. There I gained experience on landscaping, plants, and how to manage a greenhouse while working with experiencd horticulturists. I really found out what it meant to be a valuable member of a team. After working there for a few years I returned to school in a field completely new to me: architecture/construction. I wanted to learn more about the industry and challenge myself at the same time. I ended up enjoying the things I learned. Some of these new skills included programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup. Projects in class were designed to simulate a real world work flow. One of my favorite projects was designing a building from the ground up on a real site. Going through SD, DD, and CD gave me a look into the the industry and putting my design skills to the test. I was very happy with how my greenhouse/coffee shop turned out. I was also able to improve my sketching and manual design skills, while also becoming proficient at digital software and presentation strategies while learning the fundamentals of interior design.Currently I am a Structural Technician at Pierce Engineers. I work with engineers to model structural systems using BIM software.
