I currently serve as an Assistant Professor 10x Core Faculty member in the Applied Undergraduate Psychology Program at Capella University teaching courses that explore Culture, Ethnicity, and Diversity from a psychological perspective. My educational background consists of degree work (B.S. '11, M.S. '16, Ph.D. '19) in psychology where I explored the intersection of culture and cognition.My graduate training at Howard University was in the area of Developmental/Experimental Psychology. With a research emphasis in Cognitive Psychology, my work centered around improving learning outcomes for marginalized learning populations by elevating the role of cultural background. During this time I received three years of training as a cognitive researcher examining the development of preschooler comprehension and learning processes. I also served as manager of a developmental research laboratory, course instructor (Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, Developmental Psychology), manuscript reviewer, guest lecturer, and workshop facilitator. Additionally, I received 13 months of qualitative research training in an education research laboratory exploring the experiences and outcomes of minority engineering students in higher education.I also serve as the Outcome and Evaluation Director at the Center for Black Equity, a global network of LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, and community-based organizations and Prides dedicated to achieving equality and social justice for Black LGBTQ+ communities through Economic, Health, and Social Equity.
