After starting with Britvic found that the project to migrate their DT1 platform to “Desktop 2” (Windows NT 4 Workstation/Server) would not complete prior to 1/1/2000. I was given the responsibility for the DT1 Y2K project. Therefore my project target was to investigate, plan, test and implement the Y2K updates of the hardware and software for some 250 users and 34 servers across 20 sites in a 3 month timescale. Planning included a disaster recovery plan and isolated Y2K testing. The project was successfully completed single-handedly by mid December with minimal disruption to the business. Other duties included:• Day to day application support and maintenance to about 250 end-users.• Provision of third line support to the national helpdesk team which is responsible for support to about 1,500 Novell and NT users. Used Quetzal call logging system to provide a quality service within SLA levels. • Maintenance and monitoring of the NetWare servers, providing support for the daily running of IT equipment, applications and end user support to service level agreement standards. • Support comprised of telephone support with remote support and occasional on-site visits.Skills utitilised: Novell server, Microsoft Windows 3.11, DOS, Y2K criteria, project planning and implementation, liason, IBM and Compaq hardware. -
