Engaged in research projects on feed composition, intestinal health and microbiota in broiler chickens. Ongoing projects:Tools for Eimeria control ('TEiCON'): Developing tools to optimize the control of broiler and turkey coccidiosis without use of antimicrobials. TEiCON will contribute to develop better diagnostic tools and new data and knowledge to reinforce the sustainability of broiler and turkey farming, with main focus on coccidiosis (Eimeria spp.) and necrotic enteritis, and on further reducing the low usage of antimicrobials in Norwegian poultry meat production.Increased sustainability through a higher use of barley and oats in broiler production ('SUSBROIL'): The project will attempt to identify and attenuate obstacles associated with barley- and oat-based broiler diets.Bio-farming for bioactive compounds ('Bio-active'): The aim of the project is to screen bioactive extracts from a selection of 9 different herbs in poultry feed for antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
