I am working as the Head of the 3R-Center Tübingen's Business Unit at the University of Tübingen and the NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute, also holding certification as a Science Communicator.My academic journey includes studies in Applied Chemistry with a focus on Bioanalytics and Imaging at Reutlingen University and Kettering University in Flint, MI, USA. I earned my doctorate degree from the University of Stuttgart with Summa Cum Laude honors. As a postdoctoral researcher, I joined Peter Loskill's µOrganoLab, where I focused on novel Organ-on-Chip systems as innovative alternatives to animal testing.In 2020, I transitioned to the 3R-Center Tübingen, assuming leadership as Head of the 3R-Center Tübingen Business Unit. In 2023, I successfully completed the certificate program in ‘Science Communication and Media Competence’ at the Graduate Academy of the University of Tübingen.In my current role, I oversee the science communication and public relations efforts of both the 3R-Center and the µOrganoLab, while also spearheading the organization of training and educational workshops.In spring 2024, the German Research Foundation (DFG, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) recognized Peter Loskill and me for our contributions at the 3R-Center Tübingen, awarding us the Ursula M. Händel Animal Welfare Prize 2024. Additionally, we were both shortlisted for the Lush Prize 2024 in the 'Training' category.As a passionate advocate for science communication and the advancement of human-relevant alternatives and complementary methods to animal testing, I firmly believe in equipping scientists with the knowledge, information, and training necessary to access these innovative technologies. By empowering researchers with easy access to these novel methods, we can revolutionize biomedical and pharmaceutical research, ultimately reducing our reliance on animal testing in this field.
