Leading the new Digital Industry Department of Vem Sistemi; this departement has been created tohelp Vem Sistemi customers, especially manufacturing companies, extract maximum value frominnovative digital solutions applied to industrial production lines.The main lines of business are industrial networking, network automation and secure network access,following the recommendations set forth in the IEC62443 standard. Other activities include productionline digitization in both greenfield and brownfield contexts, especially using Cisco IOx edgetechnology.

I managed the technical personell of the Modena site of VEM Sistemi, developing integrated network solutions for VEM customers, with special consideration for security, resiliency and manageability.I’ve also had the chance to familiarize myself with new technologies, like Cisco ISE(Identity Services Engine), Cisco Wireless Controllers, Checkpoint and Fortinetfirewalls.

I was in charge of coordinating the IT Operations department, which is responsible for the 24/7 availability and management of the IT infrastructure and applications that enable Communication Valley to provide managed security services to its customers.I responded to upper management for:-Incident and problem management.-Change and access management.-System and network monitoring.-Performance monitoring and reporting.-Technical training of junior personnel. -Technical support provided by external suppliers.-2nd line support for Communication Valley's Security Operation Center.Main technical activities:-Network equipment configuration and troubleshooting (especially firewalls and VPN devices).-Server hardware, operating systems and applications installation, configuration and maintenance.-VMWare Virtual Infrastructure management.-Active Directory Management-Windows desktop management.-File and virtual/physical servers backup.-Storage administration.-Nagios administration and programming.-Writing system documentation, manuals and procedures. -Supporting the Communication Valley Security Operation Center with security events analysis and response. I also did on-site consultancy work for Communication Valley's customers:-Network design, management and troubleshooting.-Deployment and administration of strong authentication solutions. -Security auditing of corporate networks.-Installation and configuration of large intrusion prevention system deployments.-Configuration hardening for operating systems, network equipment and web servers. -World Wide Web access policing (URL and protocol filtering) -Automated SPAM and virus filtering of e-mail.Communication Valley's customers are medium to very large financial, automotive and pharmaceutical companies; among the many clients of Communication Valley, I was most often assigned to work with large banking customers and luxury car makers.

I was in charge of administering the network equipment and the servers providing the essential internet services: that included dns, mail, web and proxy servers, all running on Microsoft operating systems. I was also responsible for the assistance of over one thousand dial-up customers, both via telephone and on-site. My other duties included internet domain registration, web site design and programming, generic computer technical support and assistance. The customers were either individuals or small offices.

Programming software for packaging robots, testing and installation. The machines were driven by industrial PCs (programmed in C, C++ and x86 assembly) or PLCs, mainly OMRON, Siemens and Allen Bradley. The customers were medium to large size enterprises mostly located in northern Europe.
