I am an exploration geologist with over 20 years of experience, having worked in multidisciplinary teams in the private sector, academia, and government. I am deeply committed to extracting meaningful information from the geological record by integrating data and concepts in mineral exploration. In the past few years, I focussed on applying sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and basin analysis to sedimentary mineral systems such as manganese, copper, zinc, cobalt, phosphate, and silver. My Ph.D. research on Precambrian mineral systems links global tectonic, basin evolution, and Earth’s surface events to refine geological controls on sediment-hosted, critical mineral deposits. I defined sedimentological and diagenetic processes in a sequence stratigraphic framework to differentiate between ordinary (background) and anomalous geological conditions that ultimately favour economic accumulation of sediment-hosted mineral deposits. This approach, combined with the mineral systems analysis allows the delineation of exploration targets, from global to deposit scale. In my professional career, I have managed large and varied geoscientific datasets, integrating geology, geochemistry, geophysical and metallurgical data to help define and develop mineral resource estimations. I designed and executed exploration programs, developed conceptual targeting, coordinated mapping and drilling campaigns, from grass roots to near-mine exploration. Throughout my professional experience both in the field and corporate offices, I built strong relationships with professionals and colleagues. I successfully use my skills to motivate co-workers by stimulating insightful analytical thinking, ingenuity, bi-directional learning, and creativity.
