Here are the quick ups and downs...I have been a graphic designer for over twenty years (1998-2021), started with a small start-up internet design slash radio internet company specializing in the tech industry, I was doing small promotional graphics to promote their "web shows" (this was before podcasts) and also working design and some development. The Dot-com bust hit, the company decided to move resources, concentrating on publishing and printing a local weekly newspaper. My skills further increasing in both cover design and advertisement. The company also tried its hands at publishing a radio industry trade publication. Our final endeavor became the Ultimate Athlete brand, a monthly print Mixed martial arts/"action" sports lifestyle magazine/brand. We became well known and partnered with all the big promotions, put together a decent magazine, my title went from design and layout to finally creative director. The ride was good, but due to management problems and investor funding being pulled we were forced to stop publishing. The Ultimate Fighter premiered very soon after, launching mixed martial arts into the mainstream. I began working with well-established newspaper The Fresno Bee as a production designer, work was good, as well as you'd expect, the newspaper industry crumbles, and that was that. So I'm looking to further my exploits in the media and marketing fields. I'm fascinated by identity, both traditional and social marketing, aesthetics, and the psychology of a brand.
