I am Silvia Acquaviva, Clinica Analyst and In-House CRA.During my undergraduate studies in Pharmacy at University of Bologna, in Italy, neurosciencewas my favorite subject, but it is only later, reflecting upon my passion, that I understood myinterest is for biological mechanisms, especially for the ones found in the brain. During myMaster’s thesis in Pharmacology I had the first approach to scientific research and realized that neuroscience field is my passion.I joined Prof. Santi Mario Spampinato’s laboratory at Bologna University, for my Master’s thesisin pharmacology, focusing on epilessy’s treatment. More specifically, I have been working witha Valproic Acid-PUFA-3 conjugates, a new pharmacological treatment for epilessy, which couldreduce the collateral effect, add up the therapeutical effect, reduce the inflammation and the ROSproduction.During my PhD I am focusing on the ischemic effect on brain alteration. In particular, I studythe effect of ischemia-reperfusion injury in astrocytes cells with the final aim to investigate onmitochondrial respiration complex activity.I joined Dr. John Zhang’s neuroscience research laboratory at Loma Linda University, CA, formy visiting PhD student period. I learned MCAO (middle cerebral artery occlusion) technique,gaining experience working with laboratory animals and well-established hands on experiencewith in vivo dosing, treatment, handling techiniques and surgery.In 2023 I joined Baxter Inc. as Clinical Analyst and In-House CRA. My job responsibilities include ensure to federal regulations and applicable local regulations, GCP, ICH Guidelines, SOPs, Protocol/Amendments, Monitoring plans, and to quality standards in conducting clinical research. Ensure subject safety and verify diligence in protecting the confidentiality and well-being of study subjects. Conduct site qualification, site initiation, interim monitoring visit and close out visits. Verify completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance/quality of trial data collected at study sites; identify deficiencies and discrepancies and provide remedial training and/or corrective action as required.I am highly motivated and dedicated, I have good writing and communications skills, a highly collaborative working style, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with minimal direction to meet objectives and timelines, adapting to changes and priorities in order to fulfillour mission, problem-solving skills. I am confident I can bring the enthusiasm of a young and curious researcher.
