Lead Sena Area Project ManagerTyco International - Tyco Thermal Controls Division 2008 - 2013As head of the Project Managers belonging to the countries inside my area, South Europe and North Africa, I had to monitor, on a regular base, the progresses of all the EP and EPC projects in the area related to complex Heat Tracing Systems, to foresee the possible risks and opportunities on short and long terms and to give instructions on the corrective actions to undertake in order to minimize the margin deviations and, possibly, to improve the margins too. I was responsible to direct properly the PMs towards a correct approach and management of the changes and of the claims. The managed Clients were, mostly, the main international EPC Contractors (Technip, Tecnimont, ENI ecc.) and the End Users were essentially big petrochemical companies as Neste Oil, CNRL ect. In their respect, I had a sort of Key Account role as well which, combined with my managerial competencies, allowed me to get the full Client’s trust and, therefore, to put in place better marketing and sales strategies for the business development. With this Company role I further developed my attitude to leadership, to teambuilding and I improved my capabilities of people and teams (often based in other countries and continents) management focusing my attention on the teamwork spirit in which I strongly believe. I also followed directly some projects which were considered critical by the company in terms of volumes, contractual complexity and Client. I reported to the European Manager Projects Responsible and to the European Operation Manager. -
Joint Venture Project DirectorAbb S.P.A. - Abb Ps&S 2006 - 2008Taking into consideration my long and strong competence in contractual matters, I was involved in the EPC project management for the electromechanical development of a new hospital construction, University Polyclinic-Second Study University of Naples in Caserta. Subsequently, after the Company's decision to rescind the on going Contract, I took care of the already compromised situation managing all the technical/legal issues till to their resolution trying to minimize all the damages and penalties that were involved. After this experience, I have been in charge to follow a project for the modernization (DCS) of one of the most important Refinery in Libya as Joint Venture Project Director and as Joint Venture Leader Representative. With this role I have been involved in the preliminar tender phase from the contractual point of view and, subsequently, from the coordination point of view of all the parts involved in the JV and of the Client. In this period I reported directly to the Vice President Operational Excellence Manager & Middle East, Nigeria and Asia Area Manager. -
European Area Sales And Marketing ManagerAbb Sace 2003 - 2006After a long experience in the project management area, I decided to diversify my knowledge, enriching my personal and professional know-how, accepting the proposal of this company to have the commercial responsibility of an entire area (Europe) as Sales and Marketing Area Manager in order to promote and sell high voltage motors through optimal and calibrated pricing strategies. My most important goals to reach were: to increase the sales and the revenues in some markets which were not so dynamic at that time and to conquer again the UK market, the European biggest one, which was facing a critical period. These goals had been successfully reached (some markets increased up to 7 times their revenues). With this role, I reported to the General Sales & Marketing Manager. -
Project Development & Project ManagerAbb Solutions 2001 - 2003After that ABB sold the railways division to Balfour Beatty, I have been in charge (within the Project Development Department) to follow a EPC project in the Dominican Republic for the construction of extra high voltage transmission lines and substations: initially during the proposal stage and then, after the contract acquisition, as Project Manager. In this role I reported directly to the department responsible.In the mean time I have been asked to close some projects with technical/legal issues. With this specific role I reported directly to the President-Head of Business Area Unit. -
Project ManagerAbb Sae (Subsequently Abb T&D And, Soon After, Abb Solutions) 1997 - 2001While still working in the ABB group, I moved to this company to cover the position of Assistant Project Manager. In this role my responsibilities included all technical and commercial activities related to the planning and construction of big turn key projects in South East Asia (a turn key project in Sarawak which was valued over 5 billion USD included). With this role I reported to the Project Manager in charge. In 1998 I was promoted to Project Manager. With this duty (that lasted for three years), I followed the High Speed Railway Line in Italy – Rome/Naples with a very big head office team of which four people reported directly to me. With this project I started to develop significantly my delegation capabilities. On this project the site involved about 30 employees and several sub-contractors who reported to me from the operational point of view. I was also the company interface with our Client (Iricav1/Italferr) and the Saturno Consortium (composed by ABB, Alstom, Sirti and Ansaldo). The amount to manage autonomously was equal to 100 MEuro. The margins had been always maintained and sometimes also increased. After this experience, with the same duty of Project Manager, I followed a railway line in Venezuela – Caracas/Tuy Medio. With this role, I reported to the Vice President of the Business Area Unit. -
