My experience at SEDCo (http://sedco.ie/), an Irish company dealing with social business, is part of the Erasmus+ Internship program. In addition to deepening my knowledge of English, this experience has taught me a lot about the social business world. In these six months I joined the Project Manager in the coordination of four different projects (Thriftify, House of Akina, Catalyst events, Win-Win Bingo) along with three other interns.The variety of projects in place has allowed me to carry out tasks that are very different among them, such as: the organization of new courses subsidised by the State in the field of tailoring, crafting and food service for women with refugee status and asylum seeker, the planning and realization of the stock take of second-hand books intended for sale on Amazon, customer relationship management, the research for sponsorships and social media marketing.Moreover, since it is a small company with several projects in progress, it was necessary to learn how to work independently which helped me developing problem-solving skills.Finally, my ability to work in a team and my adaptability to different working environments have proved to be fundamental during the six months and the multicultural environment is one of the aspects I will miss the most.

After my bachelor’s degree and before starting my master’s degree, I held the position of intern in the division of events management, finance and management services of the London-based holding company. My functions pertained to everything concerning the Congress Centre and Services of Palazzo Mezzanotte: customer contacts, site visits and event planning activities such as relations with suppliers, supervision during the technical tests and support during the events. Thanks to this opportunity I have been in contact, for the first time, with the real labour market and I have learnt, day by day, what it means to have daily tasks to be accomplished quickly and diligently.

During the international exposition held in Milan in 2015, I was the representative of the Ministry of Tourism for the Sultanate of Oman. I was in charge of the guided tours for foreign delegations and I was responsible for the information desk, providing support to customers and visitors. Moreover, organizing the agenda of the pavilion was one of my daily assignments.
