Silvia Dorta-Duque de Reyes recently served as Expert Panel Member for the development of the California ELD Standards and subsequently as Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committee Member for the California State Department of Education. In collaboration with the CCSSO and the California Department of Education, she coordinated the Spanish translation and linguistic augmentation of the Common Core State Standards for Language Arts and Mathematics. She is well known for her contributions in the areas of English Language Development, curriculum design, professional development and parent involvement. Her area of expertise is biliteracy with a focus on academic writing and the organization of instruction for explicit teaching of Spanish to English cross-linguistic transfer. Silvia Dorta-Duque de Reyes worked as Language Arts Coordinator at the San Diego County Office for 20 years. Silvia is currently a Curriculum Designer, National Biliteracy Consultant and Author for Benchmark Education.In 2018, Silvia Dorta-Duque de Reyes was the honored recipient of the Leadership Award from the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE).
