About Silvia Massimi

Project manager with 15+ years of experience implementing and leading projects in the areas of international and sustainable development in no-profit and public-private sectors in China, Latin America and Italy. • Working in an international NGO in Latin America, I set up a network of 35 local organizations of Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Colombia promoting over 200 women’s empowerment, self-employment and entrepreneurship. My background in Chinese culture and language, a post graduate course in business in China and a PhD in Oriental Studies led me to a new challange: extending the bilateral cooperation between Italy and China in Shanghai. • In Shanghai as PMO PM I led team of 4 to 7 supervisors in all phases of 20 million Euro Sino-Italian cooperation program for environmental protection. The cooperation with Tongji University was a milestone: in one year after signing the MOU two research center were set up to implement 2 million Euro projects on hybrid vehicles and the installation of Italy’s first urban gas-fired trigeneration plant in China.I experienced that sometimes a little push in the right direction can help move forward to bring in the projects on schedule and on budget. Chinese culture turns to be my path to improve cross-cultural skills. While I was in Shanghai I brought my expertise, experience and passion to a new assignment as the vice Director of the Italian pavilion of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. • As the vice Director I was part of an impressive project and an extraordinary teamwork: in six months 7 million visitors, 150 business events with more than 1500 companies participating, over 60 cultural events.After a 7 years dazzling experience in Shanghai I am now back in Rome.
