Director, Hatton Gallery & Digital Performance Space, Department Of Art & Art History
We have reimagined the Hatton Gallery as a destination and a valuable resource for outreach. The Hatton will continue to serve as a teaching resource and an example for our students of what professional practice can look like. The new orientation of the Hatton will focus on innovative exhibitions and engagement opportunities that can impact how prospective students regard our program, shape the voice we have within the local and regional art community, inform the ways our CSU and institutional peers view the professionalism and creative research of our department, and foster alumni and donor relations. As Director of the Hatton, I will work to re-build the brand of the gallery and expand its visibility. In addition to directing the Hatton Gallery, I will serve as Director of the Digital Performance Space. Formerly the Electronic Art Gallery, the DPS is currently under development with an anticipated slate of live and interactive performances and demonstrations. Part of the curriculum in Electronic Art involves researching virtual reality as an art form. As Director of the Digital Performance Space, I will facilitate programming to connect this element of the Electronic Art curriculum with the Virtual Reality Initiative of CSU’s Office of the Vice President for Research, linking Art & Art History with the VR/AR community across campus. This involvement will make use my expertise in design and digital technologies. As a member of CSU’s Social Justice Thru the Arts, I'll bring an intuitive understanding of issues surrounding diversity in the artistic community. This will be key to her facilitation of inclusive programming as the DPS seeks to involve BIPOC and underrepresented communities who are often left out of digital conversations.
