I am a Biomedical Engineering student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I aspire to work for a biomed/biotech company and work with prosthetics. I am looking to get more involved on campus, I am currently the social chair of the Biomedical Engineering Society while also being involved in various clubs such as the Society of Women Engineers, Medical Design Club, and EMPOWER. In EMPOWER I collaborated with a team of 6 on a quarter-long project where we designed a beach wheelchair specifically tailored for Melissa, a San Luis Obispo resident who depends on a wheelchair for mobility. Our primary objective was to enhance Melissa's ability to navigate sandy terrains. Extensively researched diverse designs to find a solution that would enable Melissa and her wheelchair to remain elevated without having to replace the entire wheel. Focused on creating a user-friendly system for attaching extra wheels that would create a larger surface area, thus, allowing her to remain above ground rather than sinking. Our collaborative efforts involved brainstorming numerous design concepts, using design matrices to evaluate and refine our options, and finally presenting to the board and Melissa. Our project's success led to an extension from a quarter-long to a year-long initiative.In Medical Design Club, I'm collaborating with a team of seven to develop a concussion helmet aimed to help sports players monitor their concussion risks since many are unaware of their concussion risks after collisions which leads to at-risk athletes prematurely rejoining the field. Learned more about circuitry as well as how to program an Arduino using C++ to turn different LEDs on depending on how hard the FSR pressure sensor is being pressed. Fabricated electronics that can monitor concussion risks of individuals in real-time. InEnhanced teamwork skills by working collaboratively with fellow students to wire the Arduino according to wire schematics. Designed and built a rover that would be able to navigate our school’s terrain with a group of 5 students. Programmed a Romi and the rover using Java. Used wire schematics to connect FRC sensors/ batteries seamlessly. Contributed to fabrication/ building processes. Enhanced communication skills by presenting monthly project updates. Refined ability to convey technical information and acquired proficiency in using Gantt charts for effective project management.Obtain an Autodesk Revit certification. Experience with CAD and 3D printing.
