Fellowship as Senior Researcher at HuGeF Foundation of Turin (professor P.Vineis) Molecular and Genetic Epidemiology Unit, where I am responsible for molecular biology laboratory work. Main aims of the unit is the development of new biomarkers based on –omics, in particular epigenomics and metabonomics, exploiting the uniqueness of prospective epidemiological studies.

Fellowship at Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory of I.S.I. Foundation of Turin (professor P.Vineis and Prof. G.Matullo) where I am responsible for various projects: - Bladder cancer molecular tumor markers: the aim of the study is to investigate DNA from urinesediments in patients with low- and high-stage transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) for the presence of genetics defects in order to set up a non-invasive diagnostic molecular method for the diagnosis and follow-up procedures.- Evaluation of phenotypic effects of coding region nsSNPs in repair genes using “in silico” aminoacid substitution prediction methodsDNA repair genotype-phenotype correlation and impact on cancer risk and response to therapies: measurements of DNA damage levels and DNA repair capacity using Comet-assay and Host-cell reactivation assay. Genotyping using TaqMan, fluorescence primer extension and DHPLC

I worked on gene-environment interactions participating in a large study on the effects of air pollution on the risk of cancer and molecular endpoints (GEN-AIR) I attended the Laboratory of molecular epidemiology at the Dept of Biomedical Sciences, University of Turin (Professor P.Vineis) to apply genotyping techniques to the study of populations. The laboratory was focused on genotyping of DNA repair genes, to understand how their polymorphisms interact with external exposures (diet, smoking, air pollution...) within population cohorts.
