Productized the control and data acquisition system that I had originally developed as a controls engineer, which led to faster time to market and increased profitability. • Restructured the controls engineering group and created new positions, which led to improved workflow, scheduling, productivity and team satisfaction. • Systemized the programming, installation, and commissioning of dynamometer test stands. Led technical development and implementation of controls and data acquisition systems from system design to software architecture. Projects included systems for axle prototype development, valvetrain dynamics, high-speed data acquisition for electric motor testing, and engine emissions testing.• Independently designed and programmed the original version of what became the company’s flagship data acquisition and control system for dynamometer testing. The real-time based system is in place globally at a range of automotive companies such as GM, Ford, Chrysler, and automotive suppliers.

Designed and implemented a number of control, instrumentation and programming applications for the study of health effects of water pipe (nargileh) smoking.• Published a study on the design of a smoking machine that can mimic real smoking patterns and was a major reason for the award of a $3.4 million research grant by the National Institutes of Health (see Publications).

Technology Team, Sustainable Development and Productivity DivisionAnalyzed social and economic trends of ESCWA member countries, prepared reports and implementation strategies for technology development.• Co-authored a major UN-ESCWA publication on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) indicators.
