Providing day-to-day 1st line service, advice and help to customers in support of the department’s services via the IT Service Desk. This includes the troubleshooting and rectification of identified problems where possible and the efficient reporting of identified faults or service problems reported by customers including the initial diagnosis where possible and the delivery of solutions or appropriate escalation. This includes monitoring of outstanding service issues to ensure either the effective delivery of a solution has taken place or that appropriate priority escalation is initiated with line management.Occasional servicing of hardware (including replacement of consumables).The support of the connectivity of users’ personal computers via either a University wired or wireless network is included in this role. This involves the provision of advice and guidance about the configuration of these privately owned computers and/or the actual configuration of University owned laptops or PDA’s using a range of operating systems.
