As part of my undergraduate studies I had the opportunity to work with academics and industry professionals to research portfolio theory and implement volatility forecasting models using real data. Research entailed estimating multi-asset class models like the DCC-GARCH model using rmgarch package in R and conducting mean-variance optimisation using Monte Carlo Simulations in Python for a simulated portfolio. The final paper included a literature review of past and ongoing research in this field, background and derivation of econometric models used, process of data cleansing and analysis, investigating stylised factset of asset returns, model evaluations and discussion of results.
