I led Square 1 Bank’s VC outreach to the Healthcare & Digital Health venture capital community. My role was to build and foster our Healthcare VC relationships and help their portfolio companies succeed through debt financing, banking services and other strategic introductions.

For eight years I ran the early stage life science practice for Silicon Valley Bank and brought in hundreds of early stage and venture-backed life science companies. In addition to leading business development efforts for the bank, I connected several entrepreneurs with the investment community (angels, VC, Corporate VC) through direct introductions. Several of these connections led to entrepreneurs raising rounds of capital and three of these companies were acquired for an aggregate transaction value of $775 million.During my time at SVB, I also initiated and managed relationships with several top healthcare incubators and accelerators, including: QB3, Breakout Labs, and Indie.Bio. In 2010, I launched, championed and led SVB’s digital health practice in the Bay Area and managed relationships with several of the top digital health incubators including Rock Health, Startup Health and HealthXL.

With more than ten years of experience in financial services, JC leads Square 1 Bank’s life science practice in Northern California, where he focuses on strengthening relationships with select venture capital firms and providing venture-backed companies with banking and debt financing solutions
