About Simen Saeten
Graduated as a petroleum engineer in June 2015 from NTNU (Norwegian University of Technology and Science). Currently working in the BP challenger program (trainee). In collaboration with my university, I been lucky enough to travel abroad as an exchange student. I spent one year in USA, studying at OU (University of Oklahoma). Have participated in a two-week field trip to Svalbard called SVALEX. This exhibition is a multidisciplinary course where we learn about geology, depositional environments and possible reservoir structures. Svalbard have an unique opportunity to look at possible reservoir structures close up.
Listed skills include Matlab, Prosper, Gap, Petroleum, and 10 others.

Petroleum Engineer (Reservoir Performance And Improvement)
Petroleum Engineer (Reservoir Performance & Improvement)
Working in the reservoir Improvement & Performance team. The work entails integrating Reservoir models (multiple Eclipse models) together with pipeline system (Prosper and GAP) and processing facility topside (Unisim). This integration is done in Resolve. Currently working with both Skarv and Alvheim field. The integration allows all the models to exchange information and run as a whole. It also enables creating automated workflows, setting up lists of scenarios to be run, flow assurance calculations, optimisation etc. This has a big value for both development phase and for producing fields. For developing fields the design of the facility is very important, and such an integrated model allow scenarios to be run time efficient. Important with good communication through disciplines as the model envolves reservoir, production, process engineers, flow assurance and chemists.
Petroleum Engineer (Skarv Field)
Petroleum Engineer at Skarv field:- Doing petroleum allocation- Creating production permits- Subsea MPFM and test separator scheduling and monitoring- Maintaining the subsea MPFM (updating configuration files)- Daily monitoring of wells (pressure and temperature)- Modelling wells in Prosper. Production performance and design analysis- Modelling pipeline system in GAP. Routing optimization and debottlenecking.- Creating short term forecasts (decline curve analysis)- Superuser in OFM (Oil field Manager from Schlumberger). For transferring production rates to Reservoir models and decline curve analysis.- Updating WDOL (''well design and operating''-limits).- Stand-in first line petroleum engineer (offshore support to control room).- Help to create forecast/schedule for FPSO (oil) offloading to cargo tanks.
Offshore Intervention Engineer (Valhall)
Worked offshore as intervention engineer on Valhall. Doing mostly wireline and coiled tubing operations. Rate improving jobs and P&A preparation jobs.
Graduate Student
Finishing my last year to become a Petroleum Engineer. Within this field I have chosen to specialise in production of petroleum, and will write my thesis within this area.
Student Assistant
Worked as a student assistant for my university. As a student assistant you have the responsibility of helping younger students with school related work. In order to be employed as a student assistant, you had to go through a training program lasting 20 hours. This is in order to learn how to properly behave, make yourself understood, and help students.
Summer Intern
Internship based on my education in university, and my pervious work in BP. Worked as a production engineer alongside the existing team in BP Norway. Helped with analysing performance of production wells based on real time data, well history (performance and well tests), and programs such as Prosper. Wrote performance reports for specific wells. Attended post wells review meetings, which are held in order to track well performance. Prepared reports for possible intervention in order to improve performance of specific wells.
Summer Internship
Worked in the subsurface department as a production engineer. During this summer I helped estimating production forecast, attending weekly onshore/offshore meetings. Wrote forecast reports that were distributed to the different departments within the BP Norway office. Also on a weekly basis I helped analyse, reconcile and summarise the previous week production (compared with what was forecasted). In addition to this I was benchmarking stimulation techniques like proppant- and acid fracturing. This will help in order to find the efficiencies in the stimulation, make empirical correlations, and see how a specific well is performing compared with expected. Also make sensitivities in order to find the importance of different well- and reservoir parameters.
