Research Interests:Characterization and Authentication of Natural Products, Metabolomics/chemometrics, Chemical Ecology, Preservation of Biodiversity, Drug Discovery in Infectious DiseasesCurrent research activities:Within the Center for Natural Product Technologies (CENAPT): Collaborate with two botanical centers for the preparation of specific extract depleted/enriched in target compounds by countercurrent chromatography. Perform the phytochemical characterization of designed extracts by NMR, LC-UV/MS. Apply quantitative NMR for the identity and purity verification of tested commercial standards.Participate in the coordination of research activities within the CENAPT, the redaction of annual reports and the regular update of the CENAPT website. Actively involved in the organization of scientific workshops ( e.g, qNMR workshop at the annual meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy, see CENAPT website)Within the Institute for Tuberculosis Research (ITR):Contribute to the Isolation and identification of actinobacteria from diverse sources ( e.g. lichens or plants). Play an active role in the development of methodologies for the isolation of actinobacteria metabolites generally produced in trace amounts ( process developpment from fermentation stage to isolation/structure elucidation).Within the Center for Botanical Dietary Supplement Research:Implement quantitative NMR for the confirmation of identity and purity verification of bioactive chemicals.Authenticate botanical materials to be utilized in bioassays ( from microscopic analysis, DNA barocding, to phytochemical characterization by NMR/ LC-UVMS, and eventually metabolomics).Isolate and elucidate structures of bioactive markers, notably through bioassay guided fractionation.General activities:Participate in the laboratory management activities and maintenance of the diverse equipments.Actively contribute to grant writing.Mentor/guide students and postdoctoral research associates.
