Working in the API & Services team, I am responsible for writing and maintaining reusable microservices, providing REST and SOAP API’s which connect Tesco Bank’s Web and Mobile applications to the bank’s back end systems, databases and multiple third parties.The technology used in the team is built around Tibco Businessworks (5 & 6). Businessworks 6 is Java based and runs on Eclipse. With this, we develop our applications predominantly using the Businessworks tools alongside XML schemas and Java.When it comes to developing an application, I am involved in all stages of the build from analysis, design, development, testing and deployment through multiple environments.Security plays a massive role in our IT systems and I have to ensure the code I write meets Tesco Banks standards. When this is combined with tight deadlines it can lead to stressful situations. This is something I manage well and I am trusted to deliver during these situations, working well under pressure.Upon completion of developing and testing my application locally, I use Jenkins to deploy to our test environment which is hosted in AWS. Once testing by the QA team is complete, I then promote the application to the production environment which is also hosted in AWS.I have also been responsible for overnight deployments as well as supporting other colleagues with various projects and deployments.I am a valued member of my team and I have been part of team development, including the recruitment process and interviewing successful candidates for roles within the services team.During the pandemic, I supported the business developing many applications and changes with very tight timeframes to assist customers in automating our covid response service.

During my time at TSB I worked in a large team, where effective communication with colleagues and clients was key. I carried out analysis on data received to assess mortgage loan applications. Due to the time sensitive nature of this work I had to prioritize applications to manage my time effectively. I also had to maintain accurate, legible and relevant records to provide a clear audit trail and provide good written communications with clients.
