African Union Peace And Security Council Secretariat

As a Political Officer in the Secretariat of the Peace and Security Council (PSC), I am responsible for ensuring that the PSC discharges its mandate smoothly by ensuring that it gets all the necessary support it requires from the Commission of the African Union where its Secretariat is based. This includes ensuring that all necessary logistical arrangements for the PSC activities, which include meetings, field missions to conflict and crisis, as well as post-conflict situations on the African continent, retreats and all its working documents are always in perfect order.

I taught International Relations and African Political Ideas to 2nd Year BSc.Honours in Political Science Class; International Peace and Security Studies and Contemporary Political Theory to 3rd Year BSc. Honours in Political Science Class. Furthermore, I taught Theories of International Relations to MSc. International Relations Class (2010-2011) . I also supervised a number of MSc. International Relations Students in their Dissertations (from 2002 to end of 2010). Last but not least, I also taught International Relations to Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Students at the Zimbabwe National Defence College and I supervised some dissertations too (2009-2010). I was Acting Head of the Department of Political Science for one Semmester in 2007. I was also a member of various Committees at the University of Zimbabwe including the Africa Day Symposium Committee.

I was an intern working under the Strengthenning Organisations and Programmes Unit. Essentially, I was an Assistant Programme Officer. As part of my main duties I assisted the Programme Officer in planning and convening capacity building training programmes, including workshops and seminars, for NGOs based and operating mainly in Eastern and Southern Africa. I also assisted the Programme Officer in drafting Policy Briefs.
