Creativity is the heart of business management. It’s about finding innovative ways to juggle all the moving parts and ensuring harmony across operations and sales, finance and marketing, service delivery and growth. It’s no easy task, but as Business Manager at Dicker Data, I’ve pushed myself creatively, overcome weaknesses, and discovered my love of leadership.It all began with a little encouragement from an incredible manager at Telstra, where I worked in pre-sales in a technical role. She could see that I had plateaued and challenged me to be my best self. It was now or never, so I seized the opportunity. Long story short, my performance was good enough to secure me a place in the Emerging Leaders course.Fast-forward to the present day, and I am thriving in the fast-paced ICT industry. Naturally organised with a cool head, it’s not difficult for me to keep up with the speed of change at Dicker Data. I also love that we champion a flat structure and allow room for everyone’s voice to be heard. It’s this kind of forward-thinking attitude that brings success. I know meeting targets are essential and I’m good at that, but I don’t measure my success on outcomes that are only achieved four times a year. It’s the day-to-day journey, the process of connecting left and right brain thinking, that thrills me.My aptitude for mixing science and art follows me outside of the office, too. I’m a long-time musician and regularly jam with friends. I see music as controlled chaos – you have to create a structure and refine the mess.I’m also a homebrew aficionado and enthusiastic home cook, which my family appreciates.
