TravelCareer Break Oct 2018 - Aug 2019My wife and I took a career break to go travelling. Here’s why:1. A long period of work followed by a long retirement feels out-of-date. There were things we wanted to do without waiting until our seventies. 2. Gap-years are wasted on 18 year olds! We appreciated every day we weren’t in work, renewed and refreshed, and became energised for the next big challenge. 3. My step-brother fell ill and died suddenly when he was 41. Time is the scarcest resource we have. Don’t assume you can do it next year.Over 11 months we went backpacking across SE Asia from Hanoi to Singapore; skied in Utah and Colorado; visited India and hiked in the Nepalese Himalayas; drove across Southern Africa; and travelled through Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.
