We intend for Caremark (Sutton) to have pricing that is simple and straightforward and that deliberately makes it easy to understand and to compare with the pricing of our competitors. A bizarre and novel approach, I know, but there you have it!AN AMAZING GUY! In every career you meet lots of amazing people, but it wasn't until I joined cVidya that I met the most amazing bloke that I've ever worked with. This bloke is stunningly brilliant. He was the VP Europe for cVidya, he recruited me in to run the UK and I'd never met him before that interview - for which he was late! His name is Steve McNickle.Steve McNickle is the best sales guy that I have ever seen in my life and I have worked with and had work for me over the years some incredibly talented sales people. On top of that, he is also the best man manager that I have ever seen in operation. On top of that, he's got a razor sharp understanding of technology and of the application of technology. And on top of all of that - for a guy who's got every reason to be an arrogant arschloch - Steve's huge fun, self-effacing and a thoroughly pleasant bloke. From here I was promoted to run the Government Sales operation for the UK.There were many extremely talented individuals at Informix during this time and I learnt loads from many of them - from some of them I learnt what to do and from others I learnt what NEVER to do.The 2004 film Downfall (Der Untergang) was directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, and depicts the final ten days of Adolf Hitler's reign over Nazi Germany in 1945. This film reminds me of the final corporate corruption and breakdown that I witnessed first hand at Informix UK as the whole Informix worldwide organisation was in its death throes. Nobody wants to be the guy that tells the truth too emphatically.I learnt business lessons here that I will never forget. Get out and get out quickly! If I had this time again, I'd have left Convex after a month. I thought I could make it work for me, but sometimes it would be better to throw in the towel more quickly.Convex UK was a nest of extremely unpleasant vipers and, looking back, I should have left in March 1989, not in July 1992. My first child had just been born one month before I started here and, with hindsight, I let the need for income continuity overly influence my gut instincts.Sometimes in life, it's the right thing to persevere - this wasn't such a time!
