I was responsible for managing audit teams in the UK, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Korea, Thailand and Malaysia covering all aspects of senior stakeholder management, audit planning, report preparation and clearance, risk assessment, issue tracking and audit committee reporting for all of the businesses outside the UK and for the head office functions at Group headquarters. In addition, my teams managed the annual preparation of risk registers in each of the International businesses and carried out a number of ad hoc reviews each year (e.g in the case of suspected fraud or to examine newly designed systems or processes).

I led the Internal Audit programme for all Tesco Group functions, the European region and our Indian shared service centre in Bangalore. I also developed our approach to IT audit across the Group. In addition, I covered our US business until its divestment completed in 2014. I was responsible for all aspects of senior stakeholder management, audit planning, report preparation and clearance, risk assessment, issue tracking and ad hoc investigation work. I prepared our summary reports for the Audit Committee and facilitated the risk management reviews in the countries in our Central European and Turkey Region (Czech, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Turkey), with the European Board and with the Group Executive.

In addition, I provided functional leadership and career management for the manufacturing site based CFOs. I was a key member of the European Leadership Team managing the running of sales and marketing activities in Europe and seven factories in the UK (2), the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France and Italy.

I worked directly for the Group CFO conducting a strategic options analysis programme. The scope of the work was global in nature and I evaluated several opportunities for the business in terms of alliances, business sale options, restructuring programs and site closure options. Many of these were implemented and saved the company some £30m.

I was the Finance lead in the Asia Pacific Region reporting to the Group Vice President for Asia Pacific, I was responsible for the Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain and Information Technology functions in Asia and for providing leadership and professional functional guidance to the CFOs working at the Asian production sites. I also managed the relationship between Uniqema Asia, our Joint Venture partners and key banking, tax and audit contacts, handled all treasury matters with Group Treasury in London and performed the role of Country Finance Head, on behalf of the other ICI companies in Malaysia (ICI Paints, National Starch and Quest).I was a key member of the Asia Pacific Regional Executive Team managing sales and marketing activities in Asia, plants in Malaysia, Australia, Pakistan, India, Korea, Indonesia and Thailand and sales offices in Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, South Africa, Dubai, Vietnam and China.
