I am a Team Leader on a Dairy, Meat and Poultry Department at a Tesco Super Store. My responsibilities are primarily managing the work loads of seven staff on the department ensuring that all stock with in the department has been "worked", and that dates on the products on the department are checked and rotated to ensure there is no chance of products on our stock being past their Use By or Display Until Dates. Also I ensure that the quality of the products on our shelves is an acceptable standard and through a series of prescribed checks and routines ensure that any waste is recorded and disposed of in an appropriate and safe manner. To add to this I have responsibility for Safe And Legal Records for the department, communicating information about sales, waste, changes to routines and other information relevant to the staff on my department through the company's Team 5 Weekly News letter type arrangement. Other responsibilities include delivering training to the staff on my department both by physically working along side them to demonstrate at first hand the required work method and standards but also by supervising the company's standardised question and answer type written training and ensuring that accurate records of this training are maintained. To add to this another requirement of my job is checking that pricing on the department is correct and displayed correctly. I have recently been given responsibility for these things on the In store bakery department and the plant bread (the sort of pre-packed sliced bread produced by Hovis and Kingsmill). This includes pre- packed cakes, muffins crumpets etc. A good deal of my time is also devoted to dealing directly with customers offering advice on products where I am able to do so or ensuring that they can find the products they need not only on the departments I am directly responsible for but also throughout the other departments.
