I lead the Rail Modelling team, who produce high quality strategic analysis, developments to the rail appraisal and forecasting guidance, and authoritative rail passenger demand and revenue forecasts. I also oversee the development of analytical and modelling tools to support franchising and project appraisal work.

I am working on providing advice, reports and guidance on the introduction of a wide range of new technologies and businesses for the Transport Research Innovation Board, Network Rail and the Department of Transport. This work has included providing advice and a new methodology to evaluate smart technologies, providing advice to policy makers on future technology and enabling transport providers to unlock the potential of SMEs. Additionally my role involves bringing industry expertise in pedestrian planning and modelling to support a number of projects aimed at the integration of different modelling tools. I am working to support existing industry expertise in multi-modal modelling, highway assignment modelling and traffic microsimulation modelling within the team. A key part of my job is shaping the direction of software development. I am also providing thought leadership and seeking to raise TSC’s profile and capability to model people, pedestrians and multi-modal environments with emphasis on improvement to existing techniques and the application of completely new and innovative approaches.

The role involved working as a senior consultant and pedestrian planner.I collaborated with the development team to ensure that the development of the software reflected users needs. The role also involved the creation of a number of bespoke models for clients and working alongside existing consultants to build up expertise.While at Legion I carried out a large number of training courses both in the UK and abroad at all levels. I also helped to develop the advanced training course which is aimed at expert users of the software.

Responsible for the development and delivery of the visual identity and branding of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games venues.Oversaw the wayfinding team which planned and delivered the temporary Wayfinding Signage across all venues

The role involved managing the delivery of a number of urban wayfinding schemes across the UK. I worked with the existing team to bring in a range of functions in-house. Atkins now delivers all of the information planning, graphic design and production of license free mapping internally. I have also worked with a wide range of manufacturers supporting the implementation and installation of schemes.I also managed and worked on a number of important LEGION models and pedestrian strategy projects for venues and stations in the UK and Middle East,I played a key role in business development selling the services of the pedestrian planning team in Atkins to both internal and external clients across the UK, Middle East and USA.

Role involved managing the wayfinding and signage overlay for the Olympic Football Stadiums (Hampden Park, Millennium Stadium, Old Trafford, Ricoh Arena and St James Park). Worked on the delivering a large project based simultaneous across the UK. During games times I managed a team based across the UK. Designed a unique wayfinding solution for each of the venues, including sign locations, sign types, fixings of the signs and the content of the signs. Ensured the signage solution worked with the other overlay at the venue namely the clean venue (removal of existing branding) and the London 2012 branding overlay. Coordinated work with the various requirements of subcontractors, venue management, departments within LOCOG and international organisations such as FIFA and the IOC. Gained experience working in a rapidly growing and international workforce. Experience with working on project with extremely tight timeframes and with large amounts of public and media scrutiny.

Significant experience working as the lead transport planner for numerous building and infrastructure projects across the UK.Provided architects and developers with a variety of transport and planning input into the design process of developments to ensure compliance with government policy while balancing profitable and workable schemes.Produced a wide range of documents and assessments to support a range of planning applications and presented the findings to clients and stakeholders.Worked on a extensive range of large and smaller projects such as local health centres and new city projects for the governments of the Saudi Arabia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Worked as the lead planner on the Bournemouth signage and information strategy and Ipswich signage strategy.Led signage auditing, urban realm evaluation and user testing teams.Worked as the planning system designer for the Legible London pilots on behalf of TfL. I liaised with City ID and Atkins to ensure the pilots ran to schedule and were consistent with the aims of the project.Developed a number of information and signage strategies.Wrote a large number of research pieces including: how spatial memories are formed; and the evaluation of alternative signage systems.

Produced station and large building pedestrian modelling projects both using static analysis, PEDROUTE and LEGION.Worked on a project evaluating the economic benefits of improvements to the public realm.Developed business cases and reviewed schemes for station interchanges, a pedestrianisation scheme of a major London square, and a bus rapid transit scheme.Worked with clients to offer new and innovative solutions to station interchanges.Worked on large multi-modal and traffic models.Worked on an accessible transport strategy for the London Olympics, examining how best people with disabilities can reach the venues.

Evaluated planning applications on behalf of the Highways Agency and TfL.Wrote reports on the likely implications of developments and the potential of mitigation to reduce impacts.Created computer models showing of the impact of developments on roads, junctions and public transport.Provided advice and presented in the public consultation of transportation and development documents.
