Hello!My name is Simon Brändli, I'm 22 years old and grew up in Zug, Switzerland. Since I'm a kid, I was able to travel a lot thanks to my parents passion. We even went on a one-year world trip during my 3rd grade, on which I went to school in New Zealand for three months. The constant exchange with people from different cultures has pleased me, so the passion stuck with me. After two gap years following my Swiss Matura, I decided to study hospitality management at EHL and I'm very happy for the experiences and people this decision has led me to. In conclusion, I can't wait for more to come!I'd like to share with you one of the experiences I made: During my internship at Ikos Dassia in the preparatory year of EHL, I started as a runner at the pool bar and quickly became head waiter at the deluxe beach, speaking to the guests in three languages daily (English, German and French). When the bar manager was on holiday, I worked as a "flying waiter" and kept track of inventory, all while beforehand setting my colleagues' schedules and breaks. I also learned that, in order to satisfy the guest, one needs to think ahead and not only fulfil their wishes, but also read their needs before they do. With my open and communicative way, I was able to gain sympathy naturally and even network sometimes. Moreover, the internship gave me a good insight into the hotel industry, since I helped out in other departments and events, often working overtime.
