About Simon Bredl

My scientific background covers virology, immunology and molecular biology, with a strong expertise in vaccine development. I was part of the core team, which was involved in the development of the hCMV vaccine candidate at Redbiotec AG, which was aquired by Pfizer. I was also successful in setting up a modular cloning system for a stream-lined variant generation of protein complexes. In addition I gathered vast experience in synthetic biology, protein engineering, vector design and generation. Before I generated improved HIV-1 vaccine candidates while my PhD, which are still under evaluation in nonhuman primates, and while my PostDoc I set up system to evaluate infections Parvovirus B19 virions, which was filed as patent. Right now I´m working with humanized NSG mice as model for HIV-1 infections and trying to set-up cellular therapies, which can be also translated to cancer therapy.My strengths lie in tackling scientific objectives and generate innovative solutions.

Development of a macrophage based cancer immunotherapy. As project manager I set up this new approach for a novel immunotherapy to treat solid tumors with an immunosuppressive microenvironment. I made the concept and design of the chimeric receptors which are expressed in the macrophages and make them anti-tumoral. Within the project I lead the involved team, take care of the IP, do the protein engineering and vector design and orchester the scientific work. The concept of this therapy was patented as WO2024133517. In addition, I do some entrepreneurial training to translate this project to a clinical application.
