I am an Australian Regular Army veteran of 13 years who has specialised into the Biomedical Engineering field over the last 8 years. I am now an Army reservist who works for NSW Health, based on the border town of Albury/Wodonga. I have developed many skills over these years and I have been very fortunate to of been surrounded by many individuals who have encouraged and assisted me in my personal and professional development. Noteworthy career experiences have been through my operational experiences, the first of which I was mentored greatly by several supervisors in 2013 to then being able to mentor other tradesmen in another deployment in 2020. These experiences have shaped the tradesman I am and have encouraged me to seek higher platforms through further education in the engineering space. My studies as an Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technologist will enhance my skill sets and will allow me to achieve further successes in my chosen field. Presently, this field is Biomedical Engineering. I am able to achieve immense personal satisfaction in delivering high quality and efficient biomedical engineering maintenance outcomes for the healthcare professionals in the Albury Wodonga Health organisation through timely action and effective communication. These outcomes would not be achievable without the effective support and management of my Biomedical Engineering department colleagues.

SoldierAustralian Army Jul 2009 - Aug 2022AustraliaAs a soldier in the Australian Regular Army, I am continually maintaining a healthy mind and body in order to assist me in performing my role in arduous, volatile and stressful environments. I conduct mandatory annual and periodic training to assist me in areas that are identified as necessary to ensuring a quality and ethical workforce. For example, the conduct of annual Suicide and Alcohol/Drugs Awareness programs. I have also gained experience on various weapon systems that I am required to operate at an expert level. I was fortunate enough to be selected to undertake an Enhanced Combat Shooters course at the School of Infantry after winning a company level combat shooting exercise. This further training allowed me to continue to hone my skills with weaponry in a safe and controlled environment.I promoted from Craftsman to the rank of Corporal in July 2016 and have since lead sections of up to 8 personnel in multiple scenario based exercises. This is a rank that has afforded me great responsibility which I take very seriously. I am a leader that leads by example and am able to display qualities that have gained me the respect of my superiors, colleagues and subordinates. Other highlights of my career as a soldier include the Combat First Aider (CFA) and Force Protection-Electronic Countermeasures Supervisor (FP-ECM Sup) courses. Both courses are highly sought after and are only gained via sponsorship from a Chain of Command that can endorse the soldiers aptitude in the relevant field. As a CFA, I was trained to administer life saving techniques in an efficient and accurate manner. This extra responsibility is one I take a lot of pride in as it has the potential to save the life of a fellow soldier or other wounded/injured person. As a FP-ECM Sup, this was a great complement to my trade qualification that allowed me to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the way in which to best utilise systems in interoperability or stand alone scenarios. -

Workshop ManagerAustralian Army Nov 2018 - May 2019Queensland, AustraliaI have performed the role of the Workshop Manager in the absence of the incumbent. I was selected ahead of six other of my peers for this position and have been able to continue on with the example set before me to then hand back over the position on the incumbents return with no ill effects to management of the workshop. My role was challenging in the fact I was making decisions that were previously outside of my scope and were also at times difficult to be accepted by my colleagues and subordinates. I was able to utilise conflict resolution and customer negotiation tactics in order to assist me in communicating the limitations of the workshop whilst also informing the key personnel we are a customer focused entity. I continued to monitor and encourage lean practices within the workshop environment, along with foster and mentor potential future Workshop Supervisors/Managers. I ensured KPIs and deadlines were met; however, when they weren't I conducted periodic refresher training to ensure practices were current and relevant. -
Workshop SupervisorAustralian Army Jan 2015 - Apr 2018Darwin, AustraliaIn 2015, I gained employment at the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment (1 CER) where I continued to gain significant exposure to mine and explosive ordnance detection devices. This fleet of equipment was a highly rewarding project to be a part of and was the first exposure for me to gain expertise in key stakeholder liaison. This is an area of my skills I have received positive feedback on many times during this tenure and beyond. Whilst at 1 CER, I also attended the Army Biomedical Equipment Maintenance course, provided by Wilson Medical at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. I then was able to gain exposure to the maintenance and management of oxygen supply and resuscitation equipment, along with medical furniture. This was the turning point of the focus and direction I want my career to go and as such I decided to undertake an Advanced Diploma of Biomedical Engineering through EIT. I would go on to complete this course in my future gaining unit, 9th Force Support Battalion (9 FSB).My position as a Workshop Supervisor has also involved the direct management and oversight of multiple tradespersons across several trade groups. My skills within personnel management and delegation of tasks has had to increase in order to allow efficient output of work to our customers needs. -
