Having worked for News Corp, I was responsible for taking full accountability for the accuracy of the final print by proof reading and sub-editing copy for The Advertiser and Sunday Mail sport sections. This includes rectifying spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and demonstrating an understanding of how to optimise content. Having held a senior production role for the newspaper, I helped oversee and direct content, as well as manage the day to day production and editing processes to meet our publishing deadline. This role includes identifying and publishing breaking news stories and campaigns which were print and digitally compatible, and sought to actively engage with readers by creating online content that drove and encouraged reader feedback to websites.

Ballarat, Australia

The Courier delivers the latest news from Ballarat, Victoria, including sport, weather, entertainment and lifestyle. As Chief Sub Editor, my role was to manage a team of 6 sub editors and support the quality and accuracy of editorial content published in The Courier, ensuring that spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure met all quality standards. I was responsible for implementing changes on copy flow, layout and production, content planning, manuscript editing, including managing news-gathering operations to ensure utilisation of all news sources, such as press releases, telephone contacts, radio, television, wire services and other reporters.

Shepparton

The Shepparton News is the premier newspaper servicing the Goulburn Valley in northern Victoria. As the Chief Sub Editor, I was responsible for providing direct leadership and clear direction, I was accountable for reviewing and correcting articles before they were printed, designing pages, liftouts and sections, editing stories and writing captions.As sports editor I managed a team of four reporters and one sub editor and played an influetial role during the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 Beijing Games, overseeing liftouts on each day of the event. I provided direct support to the team to manage the production schedule and workflow and to ensure all print production deadlines were met.

Cairns, Australia

The Cairns Post is News Corps' daily newspaper covering the Far North Queensland area. As sports reporter I was tasked with covering the Cairns Taipans in their first two seasons in the NBL as well as a variety of sports including Australian football, hockey and basketball. Multiple award-winner for coverage of the Queensland Basketball League and Queensland Hockey.As a general reporter I covered court and police rounds for two years, covering a range of high profile cases. Won a Queensland Media Award for a feature series on the role of the judiciary.As a News Editor of the Tablelands Advertiser, I conducted comprehensive reviews and modifications to the content provided by writers and other contributors. I ensured readability, and was often tasked with developing content ideas that fit well with the publication and sorting through submissions to decide what should be published. My strong stakeholder liaison skills, ensured I worked cooperatively with designers, photographers, advertising reps, writers and artists as well as writers and reporters, and other internal and external stakeholders involved. Strong focus on production of the weekly newspaper and filing news and sports stories, features and advertorials.
