As the Information Security Manager for the PHN I implemented the Information Security Management System (ISMS) achieving ISO27001:2013 certification in March 2021, Current duties include the ongoing management and monitoring of the ISMS including working closely with our Information Security Risk Committee, internal and external auditors and Cyber Security companies.

Responsible for the organisations Information Security and Technology strategy including the management of the PHN’s Information Security Management System - ISO27001.Leading a team of Information Technology professionals and responsible for the continued delivery and support of the PHN ICT operations including Cyber Security, Data Governance, Systems development, Technology procurement and Information Management. Implemented an Information Security Management System and lead the organisation through an Information Security change management program resulting in ISO27001 certification.Other system improvement projects that I have lead include the development of a referral tracking system used by the PHN’s Regional Assessment Service (RAS)as part of the National My Aged Care Gateway, a data collection and aggregation system for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (DEX), several case management systems used to support a variety of commonwealth funded health initiatives requiring the safe secure collection, analyses, and reporting of client level data, a PHN Data Warehouse to support the data analysis and Power BI reporting requirements and several data integration projects between Primary, and Secondary care.

During this period I held a senior leadership role in the organisation as we transitioned from a Medicare Local to Brisbane North PHN. I worked closely with National eHealth Transition Authority (NEHTA) on the development and testing of the National standards and the blueprint for the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR), now the My Health Record. I managed the Wave 1 PCEHR implementation, the first in Australia, and the subsequent Wave 2 implementation. I developed a number of local information management systems including; Partners in Recovery (PiR) Client Information Management system, PHN Contract Management system, IT procurement and requirements gathering, internal server and full ICT refresh for the organisation, Map of Medicine, a Mental Health (ATAPS) referral automation system, Department of Health data collection and aggregation system to support our Home and Community Care (HACC) program. (In 2015 Metro North Brisbane Medicare Local became Brisbane North PHN)

I managed a number of projects including the implementation of a shared electronic document exchange to support the National Coordinated Care Trial. Implemented a shared electronic health record system (Health Record Exchange) to improve the sharing of patient information between connected providers for patients with chronic and complex conditions. I was heavily involved in the development of the National Health Care Identifier requirements including a presentation to the Senate and worked closely on Health Information Exchanges (HIE). (In 2011 GPpartners Limited became Metro North Brisbane Medicare Local)

Focused on Information Management and Information Technology I assisted and advised General Practitioners and their staff with improving their IT systems. I managed the IT components of a number of projects including; Secure Messaging and better sharing of information between residential Aged Care facilities, General Practice and public hospitals, the establishment and management of a private network connecting a number of local practices and teaching Medical Assisting students in General Practice IM & IT.(In 2007 Brisbane North Division of General Practice became GPpartners Limited)

Queensland Service Manager for a leading supplier of I.T. Hardware to the Retail Pharmacy market. Managing a team of Technicians supplying and servicing major IT brands such as IBM, HP, NEC, Compaq, Oki, Kyocera. Responsible for growing the Queensland customer base and maintaining good working relationships with existing customers. Managed budgets, deadlines, and reporting requirements in a high pressure environment.

Queensland service manager for a medical software company managing a team of staff including software engineers, trainers and technicians. Responsible for ensuring customers received quality localized support, managing and planning new installations, working with clients at all levels and supporting the sales team with pre-sales support.

Installed, trained and supported staff in a range of medical software products in Private Hospital, General Practice and Community Pharmacy. Operating systems included Linix, Unix and Windows and clinical applications included financials, scheduling and clinical records.
