Professor Simon Cooper has worked in acute care in the UK and Australia with experience in intensive care, emergency and paramedicine. He led nurse practitioner developments in the UK prior to moving to Australia in 2008. Until 2014 he worked at Monash University where he commissioned a new nursing school at Berwick campus, prior to moving to Federation University and then Edith Cowan University. He has extensive experience in curricula design and innovative teaching approaches with academic interests in emergency care, leadership, teamwork, education and clinical simulation. Over the last 12 years he has led the development of the web based First2ActWeb patient deterioration program. This 1.5 hour training program has now been completed by over 30,000 participants from across the world. Further, a non-technical skills assessment tool for the assessment of resuscitation team performance ‘The Team Emergency Assessment Measure’ (TEAM) has been widely disseminated and is used in around 70 centers across the world with translations into 14 languages. He has published over 160 papers, chapters and books (with a Scopus H Index of 44) and has achieved a research income of approximately A$6 million.
