Leading up the Vendor Independence, Assurance, Acceptance and Openness parts of the MORPHEUS programme. Developing soft and hard methods of ensuring that the MoD has the correct information, tools and knowledge in the right formats to make MORPHEUS fit to compete and fit to evolve in future capability spirals. New ground, new thinking.

Set to work and provided lead technical focus for the Open Communications Management principles in Bowman's Management Systems through a set of detailed de-risk work leading up to the 5.5 increment of Bowman. Overall aim was to break Bowman out of its 'stove pipe' procurement by standardising communications management interfaces.I've also supported the procurement of separate Urgent Operational Requirements providing extensive coalition interfaces and information management to Bowman.Lead JSP604 sign off for BCIP 5.5.

Wrestled with Bowman through its difficult birth from a requirements set, detailed specification and design, integration, system testing, formal trialling, delivery and now support to deployment in Theatre.I am responsible for providing deep technical knowledge to MoD in the procurement and delivery of the very heart of Bowman; its Tactical Communications Management System. Unlike commercial management system Tactical management systems work on a very tight bandwidth budget which generates very peculiar technical and hence operational requirements.

As a precursor to MORPHEUS I'm running a small programme defining the software and data structure of a Tactical Communication Management System, based on the principles of supporting equipment evolution, minimising dependence on monolithic software by driving UI, code of connections, business service rules through data rather than s/w code. The aim to minimising release cycle times, increasing flexibility, driving competition in to equipment procurement, whilst supporting royalty free or MoD fit for purpose interfaces.The further goal is to deliver Information Management coherency between applications, across platforms and finally across the battlefield using a bespoke Common Information Model based around ESB technology.

Principally responsible for providing technical support and design services for the successful inter-connection of Th based XMPP Chat services to BCIP ComBAT Chat. This system in currently in use supporting operations.Secondary role of providing technical support and guidance on the impact of UoRs on BCIP, primarily the SysMan areas (BCMS).Also, supporting NTA (MoD's Network Technical Authority) with the development of BCIP remote system and performance monitoring due in Th for H19.Supported the switch in Th from BCIP 4f to BCIP 5.4 working along side 3Cdo and GDUK.

MoD's SME for the improvements to SMTP inter-working between BCIP and external systems, including DII (SLI), RNCSS and OverTask.Areas of technical expertise have included SMTP messaging, ComBAT, SysMan (BCMS), DNS and QoS (Bowman style!).Work has ranged from technical guidance to Prime contractor and sub-contractors, arranging complex trials to system acceptance and test.

Joined when company was Royal Signals and Radar Est. Worked up from Scientific Offier to leading a small technical team. The work was varied and covered a wide range of communications areas from narrow band radio, wide band video and comms management, for very particular set of customers!Chaired the APCO25 Digitial Radio standard (USA) System Management Committee. - 3 yearsMember or and contributed to ETSI's 3G Security Working Group. - 3 yearsFinished my time at QinetiQ embedded in the BATCIS IPT at DE&S, Bristol providing SME support for all Bowman System Management Aspects.
