Founded in 1844 as the Torquay Natural History Society, and currently celebrating our 175th anniversary, TMS is a learned society active across a range of disciplines including Geology, Archaeology and Astronomy, Local History, Zoology and Ornithology, Botany, Literature and the Arts.

Lead responsibility within Crown Agents for management and direction of CA relationship and business with the EUNIDA consortium (the European Network of Implementing Development Agencies - other members drawn from across EU Member States include GIZ (Germany), FIIAPP (Spain), Expertise France) BTC (Belgium), AEI (Austria), SNV (Netherlands) and EPLO (Greece). Crown Agents is the UK member.Current work has a strong focus on building and managing donor-funded teams operating in conflict affected areas and other fragile states. Sectors covered include disaster and reconstruction assessment, security sector reform and wider good governance and capacity building.

A long and rewarding career at Crown Agents in a range of roles, countries and contexts. Highlights include contributions to DFID's consultancy support in southern Iraq, our own inputs to the early development and reconstruction of Afghan institutions and capacity, the memorable UNMIK Customs programme in 2001, and my own baptism into EC project management with the original TACIS funded Nuclear Safety Joint Management Unit in Moscow.
