I am an active member of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association, as a Board Director and member of the Facilities and Upgrading Committee.Previously managed the operations, P/L account, resourcing and employee development at Jacobs Consultancy Canada, which carries out consultancy activities, environmental studies, consulting engineering, techno-economic studies, technology development, proposals and sales.I have 25 years’ experience working for both client and contractor organizations in process development, design projects, commissioning, and operations functions. My areas of expertise include SAGD, in-situ, hydrogen, synthesis gas generation, and methanol plants, including: hydro-desulfurization, steam reforming, primary and secondary reforming, shift conversion, gasification, Catalytic Rich Gas, methanation, partial oxidation, catalytic partial oxidation, methanol synthesis and distillation, CO2 and H2S removal units, PSA, membranes, and VSA. He holds two patents for CO extraction technology, and co-authored the “Methanol” entry for the Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 4th Edition.I have worked for a technology licensor developing and supporting licensed processes and FEED packages for clients. I have also successfully led teams of process engineers in the development of PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, control and trip system philosophies, and equipment specifications, including: compressors, reactors, steam/methane reformers, distillation systems, separators, vessels, and pumps. He has performed the role of lead engineer and technical expert in HAZOPs and during pre-commissioning, commissioning, trip system testing and plant start-up and operation. He has also written operating manuals and trained operating staff in classrooms and on site.Specialties: SAGD, in-situ, Hydrogen, Synthesis Gas, Methanol, Carbon MonoxidePublications:Co-author of “Methanol” entry for Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 4th Edition.Kapoor, Davies, Chen, Kumar, Thorogood, Production of Carbon Monoxide from Syngas, Patent 5980857, 1998.Kapoor, Davies, Chen, Kumar, Thorogood, Multiple Equalization Pressure Swing Adsorption Process, Patent 6113672, 1999.
