Having spent nearly 4 years as Income Manager, (managing the council's income account and all debt recovery), I transferred to the Insurance Section, where I introduced risk management to the council.Initially, this focussed on highways maintenance and schools, but was widened to encompass all departments and activities.

Starting out at the Bury St. Edmunds branch in the Accounts Office, I then worked in sales before being selected for the company's internal management training programme.I was based for two years at Enfield, working at the company HQ, doing every job from sweeping the warehouse to helping establish a new division of the company as Assistant to a Board.
